Credit Card Payment Policy
When paying via credit card on Kiwibuyers, you must use your own credit card registered in your name to prevent fraud and unauthorized transactions.
- Use of credit cards belonging to another person, or without the owner’s explicit consent, is strictly prohibited.
- Attempting to use a third-party or stolen credit card may result in suspension or termination of your Kiwibuyers account and may lead to legal action.
- This policy protects both buyers and sellers and helps maintain the security and trustworthiness of our marketplace.
Direct Debit – Conditions of Authority
These are the terms and conditions you agree to when setting up a Direct Debit payment with Kiwibuyers Limited (“we”, “us”, or “the Initiator”). Please read them carefully.
The Initiator (Kiwibuyers Limited):
- We agree to give you advance notice of the amount and due date of each direct debit at least 10 calendar days (but not more than 2 calendar months) before the debit is initiated.
This notice may be given either:- In writing; or
- By electronic communication (if you’ve given prior consent).
The advance notice will include the following message:
“Unless advised otherwise by you by 2026, the amount of $[XXX.XX] will be debited from your bank account on [debit date].”
*The 2026 will be at least 2 working days before the debit date to allow time for amendments.
- If your relationship with Kiwibuyers ends, we may instruct your bank to cancel your direct debit arrangement. Upon receiving that notice, your bank may terminate this instruction and inform you in writing.
- We may rely on this authority to debit another bank account if you instruct your new bank to transfer your direct debit to it.
You (the Customer) may:
- Cancel this direct debit instruction at any time by notifying your bank and us in writing (or by another method you’ve agreed with your bank).
- Stop a specific upcoming direct debit by notifying your bank before the debit is made.
You acknowledge that:
- This instruction will remain valid and in effect even if you pass away, are declared bankrupt, or if the authority is otherwise revoked—until your bank receives official notice of such an event.
- This instruction is also subject to any current or future arrangements you have with your bank.
- Disputes over the accuracy or legitimacy of a direct debit amount are not the bank’s responsibility, unless the payment was not made according to this authority. In such cases, your dispute is with Kiwibuyers, not your bank.
- As long as your bank acts with reasonable care:
- It is not responsible for any inaccuracies in the direct debit information shown on your bank statement.
- It is not liable for differences between our advance notices and the actual debit amount.
- Your bank is not liable for any failure on our part to give notice or if you did not receive such notice, regardless of the reason. These disputes must be resolved between you and us.
Your Bank may:
- Determine the order in which your payments are made (whether from this direct debit or another instruction, cheque, or payment order).
- Cancel your direct debit authority at any time by notifying you in writing.
- Charge you its standard fees for handling direct debits (as applicable).
- Transfer this authority to another bank if you switch banks and submit a valid transfer request form.
Additional Safe Payment Practices for Buyers and Sellers
- Buyers paying by credit card or direct debit must only use payment methods registered in their own nameto prevent fraud or false payments to sellers.
- If buyers choose to pick up goods and pay in cash, sellers must arrange to meet in a safe, public placeto ensure both parties’ safety.
